Getting started

Choose New Bathroom for a linked floor and its walls, Floor Set-out for an independent floor, or Wall Set-out for an independent wall. Enter dimensions in millimetres, including tile sizes and grout width. Choose Rectangle or L-Shape when creating a floor. A useful sequence is: set the room size, set tile size and grout, choose a pattern, position the tiles, add any Shower or openings, then review cuts and save.

Home and project information

Use HOME to return to the workflow choices. PROJECT INFORMATION holds the project details used in the saved project and report; open it, enter or edit the fields, and save your changes. The current project summary on Home helps identify the job you are working on.

Workflows and existing layouts

Open WORKFLOW in the hamburger menu to choose NEW BATHROOM, FLOOR (STANDALONE) or WALL (STANDALONE). Each workflow keeps its own layout. If a workflow already has work, use Resume to continue, Start Fresh to reset that workflow, or Cancel to stay where you are. When offered, copying the current standalone floor into New Bathroom transfers its layout as a starting point; later changes in the two workflows are independent.

Rectangle and L-Shape setup

For a rectangle, enter its width and depth. For a standalone wall, enter width and height. In L-Shape Setup, use Rotate 90° until the cutout matches your room, then tap a wall to enter its measured dimension. Done confirms the wall entry; tapping another wall also attempts to save the current entry. The app calculates related lengths. If measurements conflict, use the displayed choices to decide which length should be recalculated. Resolve any validation message, then tap Apply Setup. Back leaves setup without applying the draft.

Dimensions: room, wall and tile sizes

Your first drawing opens in DIMENSIONS. Tap Tile Size to set Width, Height and Grout, then Done to close the dialog. Tap Room Size to edit the floor; L-shaped rooms return to L-Shape Setup. Standalone walls use Wall Size, while Bathroom elevations use Wall Height. Check the active drawing title before editing: floor and wall tile specifications can be independent. Named dimensions run along the drawing edges, and the small Tile width x height caption identifies the current surface tile size.

The mobile carousel

The initial row is Edit Tools | DIMENSIONS | Navigator. Tap a neighbouring tab or swipe horizontally across the drawer's empty space to change environment. The active tab is wider and taller. The loop runs Edit Tools, Dimensions, Navigator, Measurements, then back to Edit Tools. Measurements is initially out of view; move past Navigator to reveal it. After the first drawing opens, your last chosen environment stays active while you move between the floor and walls, reopen setup or return from Home. A new or newly opened project, a first workflow entry, or Start Fresh starts in Dimensions; Resume keeps the last active environment.

Edit Tools: Pattern and Rotate

Open Edit Tools, then Pattern. Stacked aligns tiles in straight rows; Brick offsets alternating rows; Herringbone forms an interlocking arrangement; Diamond turns the grid diagonally. Choose a pattern to update the drawing and results. Rotate appears for Brick, Herringbone and Diamond and changes the pattern direction. Rotate in Pattern changes the tiles; Rotate 90° in L-Shape Setup changes the room orientation.

Edit Tools: Position and floor grout lines

Open Position, then choose ↔ MOVE or ↕ MOVE to show the tile controls for that axis. The arrows describe tile-grid movement, not joint direction. The last selected axis stays selected across drawings; switching axes never changes the set-out. Horizontal choices align from the left/west, centre or right/east; vertical choices align from the floor/south, centre or ceiling/north. CENTER balances the edge cuts. L-shaped floors also offer INNER Y and INNER H references for the inside corner. SHOWER V and SHOWER H appear when a Shower reference is available. Disabled choices are unavailable for the current surface. For Brick, pay attention to any Row A or Row B caption. Bathroom walls show WEST, CENTER, EAST and FLOOR LINES together under ↔ MOVE. FLOOR LINES aligns their horizontal set-out with the floor; review the resulting wall drawing after changing its tile specification.

Edit Tools: Free move and Revert

Choose Free move, then drag the tile layout on the drawing to adjust its position manually. Watch the cuts update as you move. Revert position restores the position saved for that move when available. Use Position presets when you want to return to a specific alignment reference. Moving tiles does not change the room dimensions.

Both Rectangle and L-shaped floors report Shower V/H cuts on the main-floor side of the Shower edge. Brick values follow the actual drawn A/B rows; a dash means no applicable boundary or row. Rectangle Position uses its fourth slots for enabled Shower V/H, with no Inner buttons. L-shaped floor drawings use W1–W6 labels aligned along their walls clockwise; L Setup retains its editable dimensions. Mobile pull-to-refresh is disabled while normal scrolling remains available.

Edit Tools: Shower

Shower is available on floor drawings. Opening Shower enables it if it is off. Enter Width and Depth, then drag the Shower on the floor to place it; it snaps to room walls and corners. Use its ON/OFF checkbox to include or remove it. When enabled, Shower references can be selected in Position and additional Shower measurements appear in the results. On mobile, a Shower cut equal to the full tile size on that axis reads FULL TILE.

Edit Tools: Window, Niche and Door

On a wall elevation, open Openings and select Window, Niche or Door. Selecting a disabled opening enables it. Dark blue means enabled; white means off. For Window and Niche, enter X from Left, Y from Floor, Width and Height. For Door, enter From Left Wall or From Right Wall, plus Width and Height; the opposite distance updates automatically and the Door stays at floor level. Untick the enabled checkbox to remove an opening from the drawing. Done returns to the opening choices. Bathroom openings belong to the selected wall, so check the wall title before editing.

On mobile, enabled Window and Niche tile alignment controls are in Edit Tools → Position → ↔ MOVE: LEFT, CENTRE and RIGHT align a vertical grout joint to the corresponding opening reference. TILE CENTRE sits below those three and aligns a tile centre to the opening centre. These shift the selected wall’s tile grid horizontally to align vertical joints, without moving the opening or changing vertical set-out. Opening X/Y position, size and enable controls stay in Openings. Grout alignment uses the centre of the joint. Stacked and Brick are supported; ordinary Brick aligns Row A while Row B remains staggered. Snapping replaces Follow Floor on that wall; use FLOOR LINES again to restore the floor reference. Open the viewer again after any edit to capture the latest layout.

Measurements: cuts, area and tile pieces

Swipe to Measurements to review the current surface. Rectangle floors list LEFT CUT, RIGHT CUT, TOP CUT and BOTTOM CUT, with AREA and TILES REQUIRED below them. Wall results use CEILING and FLOOR for the vertical ends. Brick shows separate ROW A and ROW B cuts for the relevant physical edges; rotating Brick can change which edges have alternating-row cuts. L-shaped floors list W1–W6 cuts in the same single column, followed by AREA and TILES REQUIRED. Every mobile drawing uses a fixed table two-thirds of the available screen width. Width-resize handles are available in Zoom only, where labels and values reflow to fit. Enabled wall windows add WINDOW LEFT, RIGHT, ABOVE and BELOW CUT rows for the tiles outside the opening; Brick shows A/B where relevant. FULL TILE and Grout line retain their existing meanings. These window cut values are unavailable for Herringbone and Diamond. Area is shown in square metres and cut sizes in millimetres. For Stacked and Brick, TILES REQUIRED counts whole source tiles: full tiles plus boundary cuts. Matching cuts smaller than half the tile dimension on that axis are paired within the same wall edge, rounding odd counts up. Cuts exactly half or larger use one tile each. Corner cuts count in the left/right calculation and are excluded from top/bottom; different edge cut sizes, including Brick Row A/B, are counted separately. An L-notched tile counts once without offcut reuse. This rule adds no separate waste allowance. Herringbone estimates whole tiles from the actual displayed pattern, including grout, rotation and offsets. Full tiles count once. Matching single-edge cuts shorter than half the tile length share one tile per pair, allowing a 180-degree turn of the offcut; odd groups round up. Half-length or larger cuts, corners and notched pieces count one tile each. Each wall edge is treated separately, with no extra 15% allowance. Window and door voids are excluded; niches stay tiled. This is a cut-reuse estimate, not a guaranteed cutting schedule or an allowance for breakage. Diamond keeps its area-based estimate with 15% allowance and its existing opening deductions. An enabled niche appears in the Bathroom floor plan as an unlabelled white wall segment showing its position and width, including L-shaped return walls. Some individual cut measurements are unavailable for these rotated patterns. Review the drawing as well as the numbers before ordering tiles.

Navigator and wall selection

Open Navigator for Back, Home and the available workflow shortcuts. In New Bathroom, tap a floor boundary or a wall target in the miniature plan to open that wall elevation. Rectangular rooms have four walls; L-shaped rooms have W1–W6. Use Back to return from an elevation to the floor. The carousel keeps your last active environment as you select another wall, so Navigator stays available for moving quickly between elevations. Standalone Floor and Wall remain separate workflows rather than linked Bathroom surfaces.

Desktop Drawing drawers

These styles apply only to desktop Drawing pages. Project Information is above Dimensions and opens the existing project data sheet. The top drawer aligns with the Drawing card. Dimensions and Edit Tools start closed, expanding downward at full sidebar width. Inactive drawers/buttons are dark blue with white labels; active/expanded controls are orange with dark labels. Thin orange borders remain in both states, including Rotate and conditional controls. The hamburger always stays dark blue. Expanded drawer panels also have dark blue backgrounds with white labels and readable white entry fields. Left-menu drawer captions use the earlier compact sizing and all labels are uppercase; entered values and measurement units are unchanged.

Pattern uses two columns with supported rotation in the same drawer. Rotate and its degree value share one line. FULL EXT CORNER and Shower reference buttons use full-width rows to keep their captions on one line. Position pairs axis buttons and groups references in rows; Zoom uses compact rows; size fields are paired. Rectangle floor Dimensions shows width/depth; L-shaped floors omit Room Size and provide Edit Floor Size. Wall pages retain relevant dimensions. In Shower, Enter commits Width and focuses Depth; Enter in Depth focuses Done.

Position has no bottom description. Its row headers keep the earlier compact size, and inner Shower, Window, Niche and Door names/summaries match other drawer controls. Opening-field labels use the same compact white text on dark blue panels. ↔ MOVE shows VERTICAL ROWS with FULL LEFT/FULL RIGHT. ↕ MOVE shows HORIZONTAL ROWS with FULL BOTTOM/FULL TOP on floors or FLOOR/CEILING on walls. Relevant FULL EXT CORNER and centre/Shower choices retain their existing behavior.

Where available, NTD sits above Measurements in the right rail. Both cards use the existing Measurement width, dark blue backgrounds, white text and thin orange borders. Shower cut rows have the same background as other measurement rows, with no separate highlight. Nested Shower editor surfaces also stay dark blue; entry fields remain white with dark text. NTD has no wall labels; wall selection and Return to floor remain. The enlarged existing logo and lower body position are retained, with bottom space reduced to preserve canvas height. Sidebar/card widths are unchanged. Free Move, header actions and workflow shortcuts retain their behavior. Desktop has no bottom toolbar, magnifier or visible scrollbars. Mobile retains its existing presentation.

Mobile magnify and desktop Zoom

Tap the magnifying glass at the drawing's top right to open a frozen copy of the current drawing. Pinch to zoom, drag to pan, or use +, − and Fit. Close returns to the editor. The viewer is for inspection; its gestures do not edit tiles, dimensions or openings. Reopen it after editing to see a fresh copy. On desktop, use the Zoom drawer to change the editable drawing in 25-percentage-point steps; the desktop magnifier and frozen viewer have been removed. The independent drawing/table composition described here remains available on mobile. Desktop Position includes Window and Niche vertical joint alignment, and wall Measurements include all four outer window cuts. Shower cuts and Bathroom niche markers are shared with mobile.

The Zoom screen uses the same fixed NuVision logo header as Select Floor Shape, with a dark blue background and a toolbar over the logo. The frozen drawing has a tightly cropped white sheet with 20px beyond the outermost drawing/measurement labels. The drawing and table use thicker 4px orange borders. Tile size appears in the table rather than on this copied canvas. Drag or pinch the drawing to arrange it. Tap Table to show or hide a compact white information card with an orange border; it starts hidden and keeps its position and size when toggled. The card uses a narrower 240px layout and opens at half scale and can still be enlarged with a pinch. It has one column of cuts in the same order as Measurements: WALL (width × height), FLOOR (width × depth) for rectangles, or FLOOR — L-SHAPE without rectangular overall dimensions; then TILE size and pattern, CUTS and VALUES, AREA and TILES REQ. Move and pinch the table independently. Drag its left or right handle to change width and reflow the content while keeping its current scale; pinch still scales the entire table. Handles stay usable when scaled down and disappear when locked. Drawing +/− changes zoom by 25 percentage points; Fit restores its fit. Tap Lock to freeze both layers and slide the toolbar horizontally off the right edge, leaving a small handle. Tap the handle to bring the toolbar back and unlock. The logo sits behind the toolbar and is revealed when locking; the composition stays stationary. Fullscreen stays enabled to keep the phone navigation bar hidden. Take a screenshot using your phone’s normal gesture or buttons, . Reopen Zoom after editing for a fresh drawing. Use Print / PDF for a formal report.

Save Project and Open Project

Use SAVE PROJECT to download an editable project file. Keep that file so you can continue the job later. Use Open Project on Home and select the saved file to restore it. Save again after making changes; a Print / PDF report is not a replacement for the editable project file.

Print / PDF

Use PRINT / PDF to prepare a report for the active workflow. A New Bathroom report includes its floor and wall elevations; a standalone workflow reports its own surface. Review the report, then use the browser's print options to print or choose Save as PDF where supported. Check the project details and all relevant surfaces before creating the final report.

Help and returning to work

Open HELP from the hamburger menu for this description and contents menu. Tap a contents item to jump to its instructions. Use Back to return to the screen you opened Help from. Save your editable project at useful milestones, especially before leaving the app.

Install on your phone

On Android, open https://www.nuvisiontiling.com.au/ in Chrome. Open the three-dot menu and choose Install and create shortcut, then Install; some versions call this Install app or Add to Home screen. Launch NuVision Tiles from the new home-screen icon. The installed app opens without the browser address bar while keeping the phone status bar. Opening the ordinary website tab still shows the browser controls. On iPhone, open the site in Safari, choose Share, Add to Home Screen, enable Open as Web App if offered, then Add. The app uses the supplied NuVision icons; the browser tab uses the repaired favicon. Ordinary website revisions load when you close and reopen the app online; reinstalling is not normally needed, although the phone may take longer to refresh its icon. Internet is required to load the app; this release does not add offline caching. Use Save Project to keep an editable copy before closing.
